Everyone knows about wedding invitations. They have become a staple of the event and are almost synonymous with the occasion itself. People often receive such an item with glee and excitement as it harkens a most glamorous and important occasion for anyone involved. However, there are many who may not be aware of the plethora of other cards that can be utilized for a wedding. From the save-the-date card to the RSVP card and to Thank You card, many other personalized or streamlined cards are used on particular weddings.

The Save-the-Date Card: This letter is often sent out prior to even the invitation, notifying individuals that they should keep in mind to set aside a time for a special occasion which shall be arising. These cards are often designated for particularly large weddings that involve extensive planning. However, depending on the proximity of the guests they may be useful for any sized wedding.

The RSVP Card: While these cards should be included in the wedding invitation itself, they are sometimes send in congruence or part in parcel with the Set-the-Date card, and are often accompanied by their own envelope to return the card with the information that notifies the planners of the wedding whether or not a specific guest is attending. It will often also include a space to add "plus ones" or any family guests which shall accompany the invited guest.

The Thank You Card: This is exactly as it sounds. When a wedding has been celebrated and gone, the bride and groom may choose to send out a card to individuals who participated in the ceremony, or everyone who was present at the wedding. This card, while not obligatory, is not an exception to a rule either.

Each card tends to follow the theme and color arrangement of the wedding. Wedding’s are no longer simply about receiving an invitation and being present at the special event. Instead, they are usually large gatherings of loved ones and cherished friends, and thus carry with them a level of prestige and importance that is shown through the elegant and sometimes glitzy cards that are received both before and after the event.

It is also customary to give a card to the bride and groom, wishing them well and thanking them for the spectacle of a union between two people. These cards often also follow or compliment the general theme and color scheme of the occasion. They are an appreciated reciprocation to those who plan the weddings.
